Throwback Thursday – The Birth of the All Day I Eat Shark

I’ve got a little something special for you today.

I am celebrating 5 months of blogging with my first throwback Thursday post. Yes, it has already been 5 months!

I started this site on July 15, 2016. It doesn’t seem like that long ago and maybe it’s not.

I wanted to show you what my logo looked like before I ever started this blog.

I used a 53 Pencil and my iPad for the initial sketch.

The pen comes with a free app that you can download and mess around with.

My first sketch

using the pencil and app. This shark was born hungry and open-mouthed:

Inkscape

I then uploaded the sketch to my computer. Inkscape is the program that I use to finalize my drawings.

It’s free and pretty powerful. It has so far included everything that I need to make my art.

I traced the bitmap and turned the sketch into vector art. This is how it looked after smoothing out the lines:

After making more adjustments this was my initial product. I changed the skin from black to gray and added a fish. My initial thought was I could alternate the fish with a different type of food, depending on my post. But haven’t had a chance to work on that yet. (Writing takes up a lot more time than I anticipated 🙁 )

I thought the little ocean the shark was swimming in was a bit small, so I made it bigger. However, it just didn’t look clean when I put it on my website.

So, I got rid of the blue water and this is how I made my final logo

Now that the shark has a hat, it makes the initial logo look a bit naked.

I’ll have to think of something new for next year 😀

wow! can’t believe you’ve only been doing this for five/six months!!! Love your logo. It’s so creative and I like how you change it to fit the seasons!

  2. Hi,
You liked a comment I made on Bernadine’s blog. I wanted to come over to say thank you for liking my comment and to introduce myself. Maybe you can check out my blog if you need a blogging tip or two. That’s what I write about.

  3. Thanks! Your Etsy store items are so adorable. And, unfortunately, I ate my chicken without using either of our recipes (sad-face)… Oh, well. One of these days I’ll hopefully try it!
