Throwback Thursday #4: Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar April 2012

Today I wanted to share a little clip and pictures (click to enlarge) with you from my visit to Myanmar(Burma) back in 2012.

During our visit in Yangon (the capital), we went to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

It was definitely one of the highlights of my big Asia trip.

I had never seen anything like it before. The facility is massive and the pagoda itself is much bigger in person then I thought it would be.

The entire place had a sacred or mystical ambiance to it and what made it special to me were seeing the locals there praying.

The chanting was really moving. It was something that I’d never seen before across all the countries we’d visited in Southeast Asia.

This visit was one of those experiences that I’m always looking for when traveling. It also changed me.

I can’t put a finger on what exactly changed, but I left different after visiting this place. Have you ever had that happen?

I have to go back and see it again one day.

Hopefully, the video and photos help show what this place was like when I was there.
